A LOT TO LEARN

NIHAO!

this week was amazing. we are exhausted. but good. we just feel mentally, physically and spiritually drained.

this place is amazing. one of the few i have liked right away. it is the promised land. we have so many amazing people that are so prepared.....

for example:

Wang Yu Ting: she is the older sister of another investigator who has actually gone mia for a bit. haha, she told us last night that she is so happy to be learning about christ. (:

Zheng Rou Ping: she has been having this feeling that she needs to go to church since she was in college..... she has finally started going to church with her friend at another church.... she has a son and husband... i don't think they have a very good relationship... she has met missionaries about 10 years ago and they told her about the importance of families etc. and she is very curious. she asked our member we brought to her lesson.... the one we set up after we met her the first time and she asked about what rules we have.... and that is the time that we taught all of the commandments in the first lesson. haha. and she didn't bat an eye. wow.

Ou Ya Jun: she is 16 years old and living on her own..... she feels like she can't face christ because she has made mistakes. she wants to be baptized but is scared because her grandma might be against it... becuase she is in another christian church.

Zhang You Zhi (Yuki):she is the cutest little lady who loves to play ping pong. she can talk your ear off but loves repentance. she is nervous about baptism but wants to read the whole book of mormon because she believes it has the answers to all her questions.

Lin Xing Zhao and her brother Gu Zheng Jie: they are a prepared brother and sister 16 and 13.... and the mom and dad love us coming over... they just can't really progress until the mom and dad start meeting with us. so that is what we are working on.. we had a surprise lesson the other day on exchanges with all of them.

WE SAW MIRACLE REFERRALS.
one of them was this guy.... and he was sitting there sanding his car... getting ready to paint it.... and he didn't have any time... but he said that his mom was christian... we asked if we could go visit her and he said yes!! she would be so happy!! so we get the address.... and it is BinLang Road #683..... and i thought we could just go pop by and no. about 30 minutes later up the road we finally made it. haha, sister giles had never been up the road that far.... haha she was the cutest little lady that you ever did see!! i will send a picture.... she only spoke taiwanese.... so we really had the gift of tongues.... we could make out enough to have a good lesson with her.... she had this amazing piano... and so sister giles played her nearer my god to thee... the only song she can play on the piano... and the grandma starts singing along!! she pulls out this book of hymns... it has so many that we knew!! and they were translated into taiwanese!!!!!! we got some good pics... we are going to practice one and perform it for church someday. wow. this lady has so much faith in christ. you could feel it. even though we couldn't understand her and she couldn't understand us. it was an amazing moment.

ALSO!! all the missionaries and our mission leader spoke in church on sunday, another 10 minute talk..i feel like i could have gone on forever tho.

i talked about the Holy Ghost.
1. what the holy ghost feels like and how to recognize its role as the comforter ( read in John 14:16-19 and 26-28 or something like that)
2. how to rely on the spirit through trials ( i shared about pioneers and my experience with sister price)
3. how we can always enjoy the spirit in our lives. (read scripures, pray, come to church and keep the commandments)

it was so great. i love church (:

*****************funny moment... right now we are sitting in the internet cafe and these kids are all playing their games together and this guy just yelled out that he hadn't resurrected yet. and that would only be funny if you were a missionary.***********

I still have a lot to go...... to learn.... but i am grateful for amazing leaders and the for the guidance of the Spirit in my life.

I AM SPRINTING TO THE END>so if I seem more focused. that is why (:

LOVE, sister walker (:

update!!!! SEAN got baptized in JIlong.... my last area... i found him by talking to him on a scooter at a stoplight!!!! wow!!!! also... sister lindsay's new companion looks a lot like me!!! weird!!!!

THE DEATH LETTER

well. i got my death letter today. which says when you will be going home... etc. etc. etc.

December19th.

I was just looking at my mail. and then I saw it. and i just sat there open mouthed. I JUST GOT HERE RIGHT? and then other people started looking... they are like.. hmm, so what day will you be going home? and then there it is.

SO. Here

We had some amazing miracles this week.

1. we were going along.... missioning.... and then. i look in my bag... and i can't find the keys.... because the keys are connected to this little case that i carry that has my tracts in it......and so we make some calls... maybe we left it at the church.... they said they would look for it. but we didn't worry too much. then the night came.... and we figured we could just have our landlord open the door for us and the keys must be inside..... so anyway.... the landlord was gone... so we stayed the night at the other sister's apartment... and then in the morning she had opened it up and we get inside expecting to see the keys. but nowhere to be found. and then we prayed and thought. and i had the feeling that we needed to retrace our steps... so we talked it out first... and then decided first we would go on the bike path... and we start going, said a prayer that God would help us... and we started out doubting.......but there it was..... all folded up nice with a book  of mormon... another miracle that we could give that one away too. it was amazing. and after i knew that God will always answer our prayers and HE LOVES US.

2. this week we had some really high goals..... we wanted to give out 20 book of mormons.... and well. we started out the week on monday with 0...................but at the end we had given away 20.....1 english....1 vietnamese.....1 indonesian... and 17 traditional chinese.

it was a miracle.

here is a pic from last pday (:(: we went to see the beautiful place we live in....

i had one big regret this week. we were riding fast to our next appointment... and this car stopped at the stoplight... and instead of going back to help... i just made excuses that we were going to be late... and that there wasn't anything i could do anyway.... NEVER DO THAT> AND FROM NOW ON, I WONT EITHER.

i realized that the reason i came on a mission and the reason why i choose to stay each and every day is completely different and it keeps changing! it think when i first got on my mission I was excited about talking about jesus and going to taiwan and learning the chinese.... but then after...... it just has really become about showing my love for God and becoming more like the savior... pretty amazing.

we got to perform at a concert last night!!! we sang the efy medley... you can go see it on the youtube... oceanmelodyjazzmusic

I LOVE YOU ALLL!!!!!!!!!!!sister walker

The outside of our house!it is really fun! but only one room has air conditioning.... so we study and sleep and eat and everything in just one room anyway... haha!

YAYY FOR TAIWAN!!!!!!!!!!!(:(:

so, let me tell you a story. we went to go visit some members on Saturday because they said that there was going to be a holiday for the aboriginal Taiwanese people.... and we were like... can  we meet you friends? and they said of course! And we will feed you dinner and you can see our traditional clothes and dancing.......

And so it was a deal. and then we went and they had games going on and we got to try on the clothes!!!!!! but we had to leave before the dancing. but i am sure it was so cool.

so here i am.... i felt like a princess!! so fun (: but so expensive. we asked how much it would cost for them to make them for us.... and then said approx. $700-800 american dollars....after the conversions......wow.

i don't think i have worn anything that expensive in my life. we were very very careful.

let me tell you, not just everyone gets this experience. i feel so lucky!! it was only last weekend.... and we knew the right people.

it is so funny because the boys "skirts" are shorter than the girls skirts. haha, they also had this rite of passage ritual thing.... the boys of certain ages had to pass all of these tests like fishing.....running..... and basically whatever the "elders" said. pretty cool!

what i love about the aboriginal people is that they focus so much on the family. just like our church. just like our life. also. there are so many connections with the gospel.

IT IS TRUE. everything testifies of it. and i am sure at one point Jesus must have visited these people.

recently we have been doing a lot of finding because all of our investigators.... fang'ed us. which means stood us up. but thats ok. we are finding lots of NEW great, miracles.

FOR EXAMPLE. the other day we were riding back from the appointment that our investigator fanged us.... and then it started raining... and we were thinking... could there be anything worse? and then right at the stoplight before we went to the family mart to buy the rain ponchos.... there was a miracle waiting for us. and there was a lady sitting there buying some pineapples. and she was smoking.. and whatever. and i said hi! and she was like, are you christian? and i said yes. haha (: and then she proceeds to tell us that she had just said to here sister that she thinks she needs to go back to church.... and then we showed. up. she said, wow God really did plan this. And so my companion is like, can we pray for you. and she says yes, please! sister Giles starts praying, asking God to help her feel His love. and then she starts weeping. and well, almost to the point of hysterical  crying,. and we finish the prayer and her eyes are red. and she says, I KNOW GOD LOVES ME. and that was amazing. and she was so happy to get the book of Mormon.

and moments like that make it all worth it. she said she knew it would be hard. but she knew it was something she needed to do. she already knew that she needed to stop smoking and drinking. it was something that she knew wasn't going to help her. and that is the truthfulness of the gospel too.

love you all.
sister walker (:

also... check this out!! this is some graffiti in the tunnel under the railroad tracks....it says keelung boy in taitung..... but i just covered boy.... and now it reads.... keelung sister walker in taitung. and it is true. i love all of my areas. (:(:

I WANT YOU AND DAD TO COME PICK ME UP. (:(:(:(:(:(: I LOVE YOU!!you know i was praying and thinking and pondering. and i was eating a mango.
and then i was like. what did lehi do when he ate really good fruit?and then i knew what to do (:(:

also..... here is the outside of our house. i will send the inside next week..... and that is my lovely companion.

sister giles is from pleasant grove utah and she is 20 years old on this thursday!!! woohooO!!!!! so exciting!!! she went to BYU for the same year i did... but she lived in heritage... she was actually in mykaela's ward. woowww!!! small world huh?

she loves soccer and chocolate. (: she is the 3rd of 4 kids..... she has an older sister and older brother.... who does that sound like? but she has a younger brother.... she is so fun to be with!!! we have the best time missioning!!!

language is going good (: and we are so happy to be here! i love working hard!!! actually.... in sunday school we had a lesson on work and stuff. and i was just so grateful to have my amazing family that teached me how to work. i know it has helped me in all aspects of my life.

i will read that talk!!! not today... but tomorrow (:(:

ALSO!!!!!!!!i have a very important question to ask you people. do you read the book of mormon everyday as a family? as an individual? if not. do it! please. please. please. that is a major part of keeping your testimony strong. LOVE YOU ALL

wow!!! so crazy about the changes. but it is all going where it is suppose to go and christ and god are unchanging so that is all that matters (:

wow. that sounds like a great letter! lets do that. it is so true. i want to see that letter. (:

THE SABBATH WAS MEANT TO BE HOLY! (:(: haha

LOVE

i feel like sister giles and i are really productive together. it is cool. we found a lot of people that needed the gospel this week.

which means. this next week. we help them progress. to have faith in Christ by reading their scriptures, praying and coming to church (:

we are excited.

WE WENT TO THE BEACH LAST PDAY. it was fun (:(:

also. i don't have much to write. but i found out that my love language is quality time. so it is a weakness on a mission. haha

but i guess now that i understand. i can get over it.

in a good way though. you really need to rely on God. because it is hard. TODAY I READ IN THE BOOK OF MORMON..........

MORONI7:43-48

43 And again, behold say unto you that he cannot havefaitand hope, save he shall be meekand lowly of heart.
44 If so, his faith and hope is vain, for none is acceptablebefore God, save the meek and lowly in heart; and if manbe meek and lowly in heart, and confesses by the power ofthe Holy Ghost that Jesus is thChrist, he must needs havecharity; for if he have not charity he is nothing; whereforehe must needs have charity.
45 And charity suffereth longand is kindand enviethnot, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is noteasily provokedthinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not ininiquity but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things,believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
46 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity,yare nothing, for charity never faileth. Wherefore, cleaveunto charity, which is the greatest of all, for all things mustfail—
47 But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endurethforeverand whoso is found possessed of it at the last day,ishall be well with him.
48 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, pray unto the Fatherwith all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with thislove, which he hath bestowed upon all who are truefollowers of his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become thesons of God; that when he shall appear we shall be likehim, for we shall sehim as he is; that we may have thishope; that we may be purified even as he is pure. Amen.
and so.... i am focusing on LOVE. because if we don't have it. all the things that we are doing really don't have meaning. especially for us. we don't change in the end. we just do missionary things.
MIRACLE THIS WEEK!!!!!! we found 13 new investigators!!! what?? that was an amazing miracle from all the finding work we have been doing. also in the ward. on Sunday we had our first ward council ever (: sister Giles and i are the first sister missionaries in the taidong 3rd ward!!!  because we just became a ward from a branch... and also a returned missionary came back to say hello to everyone and visit and also got to baptize this kid that sister Giles has been working with. so amazing. he had worked with him before... and then he came back a year later to baptize him!!! wow.
also they made us oreo balls and they were really really yummy. ((:
LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!
